Porcelain Veneers

Get a gorgeous smile with porcelain dental veneers

American comedian George Carlin once said: “everyone smiles in the same language”. At Devonshire House Dental Practice, we couldn’t agree more.

While we all love to see a smile, we know not all our Essex clients have teeth they feel confident enough to show off. That’s where our high-quality porcelain veneer cosmetic treatment comes in, so you can make the very best first impression.

A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain created to sit on top of an individual tooth enamel. It is then bonded into place with a special adhesive by our dental team so it doesn’t move, giving your smile a totally natural looking appearance.

Whether you have discoloured, crooked or chipped existing teeth, our bespoke porcelain veneers are guaranteed to have you smiling from ear to ear.

The history of porcelain veneers

Max Factor was arguably most famous for revolutionising the world of women’s make-up, but he’s also partly responsible for the invention of porcelain veneers.

He teamed up with Californian dentist Charles Pincus in 1928 to create a procedure that would give Hollywood celebrities a ‘quick-fix’ smile before filming.

His famous clients included James Dean, Mae West, Walt Disney and Shirley Temple, with the latter among the many recipients of dental veneers.

Initially, each temporary veneer was bonded using denture glue, but as the years progressed, porcelain became the preferred material for the dental veneers process, as it created the most natural looking smiles.

High quality ceramic veneers have an average lifespan of 10-15 years. Some of our patients have had their veneers for 20+ years. Good oral hygiene will keep the veneers looking as good as new for many years.

For the last 30 years, Dr. Mohammadi has been carefully nurturing Devonshire House Dental Practice’s reputation as a clinic that provides superior dental care. With his passion and dedication he has given fantastic smiles to hundreds of patients, changing lives one smile at the time.

Why use porcelain for dental veneers treatment?

Did you know it’s almost impossible to tell the difference between natural teeth and dental veneers?

It’s just one reason why the dental industry (including us) uses top-quality porcelain for its veneers. It’s also translucent, reflecting light like the enamel of natural teeth, and is easy to colour match.

Porcelain is a lightweight material, yet the dental veneers made from it are durable and can withstand lots of biting and chewing. They are also more resistant to stains including coffee, tea and cigarettes than composite resin or even natural teeth.

What’s more, if they are cared for properly by the patient, high quality ceramic veneers can be very long lasting. They have an average lifespan of between 10 and 15 years, while some of our patients have had theirs for more than 20.

Why might people opt for dental veneers?

There are many reasons why our Essex clients ask us to create bespoke dental veneers. They can include:

  • discoloured or stained teeth
  • covering a chipped tooth
  • misaligned teeth
  • worn/uneven teeth
  • closing small gaps

Talk to our expert dentist during your consultation and we’ll aim to exceed your every need.

Your veneer treatment

It’s important to stress that having porcelain veneers fitted at our Essex practice is a painless procedure.

It begins with an initial consultation with our fully qualified cosmetic surgeon, who will assess your teeth during this first visit, before suggesting how many veneers you could need for your treatment plan.

It could be that just two to four porcelain veneers will be enough to cover chipped front teeth, close gaps or hide stains on the surface of your other teeth and give you a dazzling, durable new smile.

During this initial consultation, we will also make note of your natural teeth colour and shape, so suitable veneers can be made to match.

Fitting your dental veneers

The process of fitting veneers happens during the second visit, when they will be shaped and fixed to the front surface of your natural teeth.

Following that consultation, you’ll be the proud owner of a whiter smile, while any gaps will be covered and the appearance of stained teeth a thing of the past.

Remember: maintaining good oral hygiene will keep your natural looking dental veneers as good as new for many years. Don’t forget to book a regular appointment for a check-up.
