Straight teeth are healthier teeth. The Invisalign® system creates straight, attractive smiles without the need for any metal brackets and wires. Unlike conventional orthodontic treatments, Invisalign® does not use braces – instead you wear a series of clear plastic aligners, which are designed to be invisible and provide maximum comfort and flexibility for the individual. The aligners can be removed to eat, drink and clean your teeth. Invisalign® uses clear plastic aligners to gradually guide the misaligned teeth into position. It provides an innovative solution for people who want straighter teeth but are worried about wearing bulky, unsightly braces.
Every patient is different, so we design a unique treatment path for everyone. We starts with a dental examination by our experienced Invisalign dentist. As well as a physical examination to assess the extent of the problem, we talk to you about what you hope to get from the treatment. Then together we review and agree on your Invisalign treatment plan that is best for you and only begin treatment when you are happy to proceed. Invisalign will then make a series of custom made aligners that will only fit you. Each aligner is slightly different, moving your teeth gradually into the desired position. You wear each aligner for two weeks, before moving on to the next in the series.
Treatment length varies according to the individual, but it is typically complete within nine to fifteen months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30 aligners. On average treatment times are around half as long as traditional fixed braces. Each aligner should be worn for 2 weeks at a time, before being replaced with the next aligner in the series. During the treatment our Invisalign® certified dentist will see you for a progress review and adjustment every four to six weeks and you will then receive your new aligners. Each aligner will move your teeth little by little, week by week, until they reach the desired position. Finally all that remains is for you to show off your beautiful new smile!
